STYLE UP YOUR CHRISTMAS

STYLE UP YOUR CHRISTMAS

The merriest of holidays is fast approaching and we love bringing that sense of festivity and celebration into our homes. Use these gorgeous Christmas decorating tips to deck the walls, halls and their hearts, in true style.

Keep It Classic

This is the secret that generations of homemakers have known for years – keep your decorating classic. Investing in well made, neutral toned pieces that you can use over and over again, makes for a smart and also a sophisticated holiday season. Opt for decorating pieces with classic silhouettes, good form and high quality materials. That way you’ll end up with festive decorating that looks spectacular and can also be displayed everyday, as well as the holidays.

Add Sparkle

Now that you’ve invested in those timeless classics, it’s time to ramp it up with some sparkle. Here you can add shimmer with some of the beautiful decorations you already have, or dust your everyday decor with extra glitter or sparkle to transform it into Santa’s wonderland.

Style Your Table

A beautifully styled Christmas table is often the highlight on Christmas Day. Consider adding a sparkly or seasonal salad plate to each table setting. Add stylish wine glasses and flatware to compliment your theme, and don’t forget a beautiful centrepiece for the perfect focal point. You can even work some fresh blooms into the table arrangement to add more texture and a gorgeous aroma.

Light It Up

You can’t go past candles for a gorgeous, classical Christmas. For the best impact think ‘en masse.’ For a sweet and simple touch, display plain white pillar candles in glass jars with green, red or gold ribbon tied around the jar. Display them on side tables, mantles and in your guest’s bathroom.

Add a Bow

Adding a beautiful bow to anything immediately makes it look festive. Choose a beautiful shade to match your decor and create massive bows to tie on the tree. You can even swirl it around a buffet table, tie it around cake stands and pot plants, or make a stunning procession of bows down the staircase railing.

Deck the Walls

Any type of lighting makes an instant impact to your setting. Invite the magic spirit inside by stringing pretty Christmas themed lights around railings, windows and door frames. LEDs or solar-powered lights are a great power saving option and sticking to white, gold or silver tones, will keep them looking classy not messy. Go one step further and drape garlands of lush tinsel to complete the festive mood.

Set the Mood

Small details can make all the difference when adding a seasonal decor style.

Place a couple of large silver bells with festive ribbon and hang them on the front doorknob. Replace that stack of unread magazines or coffee table books with Christmas books. Cluster together a theme of Christmas pieces on a tray and display them on your coffee table. It’s a beautiful way to pull smaller sentimental pieces together without them looking scattered ad-hoc.

Edible Decor

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the sweet smell of spices and freshly baked treats. Gingerbread men, cookies and candied apples are always fun for the whole family to create and perfect for serving to drop-in guests. If you put a hole in the top of each treat, you can thread them through ribbon and hang them on your tree.

Whatever way you love to style up your Christmas, the most important thing is to relax, have fun and embrace the festive spirit with those you love.
